| 徐志摩与章士钊关于信念的论争，是五四文学革命中新文学派与《甲寅》派论战的组成部分，是桐城派文学与新文学对立的反映。从思想根源上说，新文学派与章士钊的分歧在于双方社会变革思想的不同。前者属于激进型，后者则是渐进型。章士钊的社会变革思想，虽不无可取之处，但总起来看，是逆历史潮流而动的。这决定了他必然失败的结局。 |

| The controversy over beliefs between Xu Zhimo and Zhang Shizhao was a component of the debate between the New Literature School and the Jiayin School during the “May 4th” literature revolution, and it was the reflection of opposition between the Tongcheng Literature School and the New Literature School as well. From the point of origin of thoughts, the dispute between the New Literature School and Zhang Shizhao originated from difference of thoughts on the social revolution. The former was radical while the latter preferred to progress step by step. Zhang Shizhao’s thought on social revolution, though having some merits, was contrary to the historical trend to lead to a failure end inevitably. |
