| 数词，往往与精确联系在一起，但在很多情况下，它们的词义却是模糊的，而模糊数词的语用功能也是精确数词所不能替代的。模糊数词可分为四类：作为认知参照点的整数，数词的复数形式，并列连用或用or连接的数词，带有近似语的数词。它们独特的语用功能有：省力，提供恰到好处的信息，在精确信息空缺时提供大致的粗略信息和自我保护。 |

| Numerals are supposed to be precise, but in many cases, they have vague meanings which play special roles in communication. In this article, vague numerals are classified as follows: numerals standing for round numbers which are the structuring points of a number system; plural numerals; numerals in juxtaposition; numerals with approximators. They perform four special functions in communication: least effort; providing the right amount of information; proving rough information when precise information is not available; self protection. |
