The book, Carving a Dragon at the Core of Literature written by Liu Xie, is mainly affected by Buddhism. During the Wei, Jin and the Southern and Northern Dynasties, different academic thoughts coexisted and merged. Liu also accepted the Taoist ideology, so he tried to blend Buddhist ideas and Taoist thought into his literary theory. As the general program of literary creation theory, Wandering Mind, which implies profound Taoist thoughts, is crucial to the book. Liu expresses his theory in five aspects——creation preparation, creation mentality, creative principle, creative method and creative idea after absorbing the thoughts of Lao Zi and Zhuang Zi. Liu inherits the Taoism, such as the fanciful idea, the void and quiet mind, the nature, the learning theory and the concept of expression and meaning, making full use of Taoistic exercise. |
