| The American female writer Toni Morrison is so far the only one of the black female writers that has won the Nobel Prize for Literature. By introducing the story in Morrison’s novel Tar Baby, the efforts of Son and Jade who redeem each other in the novel are elaborated, and the story prototypes based on the mythological story of “Tar Baby” and “the Rabbit” are pointed out. Toni Morrison aimed to expose the efforts of the African American people to survive in a predicament of discontinuity of their own culture in the novel. It is concluded that the only right way to protect and carry forward the black culture and to find a way out for the black nation is to enrich the black national culture by taking the treasure of the essence of black national culture as resource and absorbing the advanced and preeminent from the white culture. |
