| During the creative period of The Rivulet, Zhou Zuoren fully deserved the name of the May Fourth Soldier, as juvenile vitality showed in his works unintentionally everywhere. However, The Rivulet also contained a faint melancholy held deeply in his mind that revealed the puzzle of as the initiator and the dilemma as the enlightenment thinkers. Soon after the publication of The Rivulet and after painful thinking, Zhuo Zuoren began to hold the flag of individuality liberation and freedom to open up his personal creative garden. |
